Jody's trip to Doha, Qatar

12 Oct 2017 Short Breaks, Travel Stories

Doha is the capital of Qatar, and is a modern city situated on Doha Bay. I was lucky enough to explore this amazing city and experience all Doha has to offer, over three days.

Both Travellers Choice and Qatar Airlines escorted our tour group to the Middle East, and I would say that Qatar Airlines is one of the best airlines I have flown with. The staff went out of their way to help, and the seating was comfortable and roomy. I flew Economy to Doha, but had the opportunity to fly in Business Class on the way home.

Banana Island was my first stop for one night. It has a great resort feel with beautiful hotel rooms and overwater bungalows. We took a taxi from Hamad International Airport to the Ferry Terminal, and then a ferry to Banana Island.

Souq Waqif Boutique Hotel was our second stop and it is located in the Souq Waqif, a traditional market. The vendors here sell silver, gold, perfume oils, fabric, spices and handicrafts and it is definitely worth a visit.

While in Doha I went to the Museum of Islamic Art, The Pearl Shopping Centre, Katara Cultural Village and its outdoor amphitheatre. I also had the opportunity to dine at Nobu at Four Seasons Hotel, which was one of the best meals I have had. The Japanese cuisine was just fantastic!
